I am proud to have collaborated with the Cranbrook History Centre (CHC) this year. (2021/2022) With an art grant from the Columbia Basin Trust, we have been able to create fun, educational activity pages. Our intent for these pages is to connect people of all ages to Cranbrook and the surrounding area’s rich history and local wildlife.
CHC’s team allowed me a lot of creative freedom, constructive feedback, and in general, were an absolute pleasure to work with. I hope to collaborate with them again in the future.
I spent time researching each theme before starting so I could better understand and portray the educational aspects in a fun and interesting way. I ended up enjoying the research process, just as much as creating the actual art! From the feedback I have received, my research, passion for art, history, and nature paid off in creating pieces that individuals and families alike can enjoy for years to come.
I am deeply grateful for having had this opportunity, which would not be possible without the Columbia Basin Trust's art grant, our local Cranbrook Arts Council, and of course, the Cranbrook History Centre.
Below is what the Cranbrook History Centre has to say about working with me on this year-long project.
Dean worked with the Cranbrook History Centre to complete a series of activity pages designed for young children. The pages we received were exactly what we had envisioned, and we were constantly impressed with how breathtakingly detailed they were. Dean was very willing to make any changes or adjustments we suggested and was incredibly kind and patient while interacting with various staff members throughout the project. We will be recommending Dean as often as possible, and we hope to collaborate further in the future.
The below activity pages can be downloaded for free on Cranbrook History Centre’s website.
